I admit, that when I became a member of CEOSpace I had no concept of what it took to raise capital. In fact, I wasn't in the type of business model that required it. However, since becoming a CEOSpace Club President, I have come across many who are seeking funding. The problem is, they are going about it in the wrong way and are not getting results.
I witnessed a woman, in charge of seeking investors for a film project, literally begging for money. Another wanted to meet investors, but didn't even know what projects she wanted to produce yet. Still another, had a lovely project put together by his lawyer and accountant, but did not possess the language skills to properly present his project.
In order to receive capital from investors you need to be prepared and compliant. That requires multiply documents, presentations, etc. It also requires knowing the language of raising capital. Investors are not as interested in what your actual project is, as much as they are interested in how they will get a return on their money.
At CEOSpace we have top executive mentors on hand, at each of our forums, who will help a business owner seeking capital, to make sure their presentations are complete before they approach an investor. We also have many investors who fly in, do not wear a name badge announcing that they are an investor, who will sit and listen to your presentations. If a business owner is ready to receive capital, they often will, and in very big numbers.
At a recent networking meeting with mainly film industry, that I attended, a comment was made that funding venues were running dry. Not so at CEOSpace. There is actually plenty of idle money lying around waiting to be used by someone who is ready to receive it. The problem is, you must be ready.
